Health Surveillance in Brittany. Epidemiological Update as of March 11, 2015.

Epidemiological indicators show that the 2014–2015 flu season peaked during weeks 6 and 7 of 2015 in Brittany. The observed decline continued into week 10. As in previous weeks, mortality recorded by civil registry offices, for all ages and among those aged 75 and older, exceeded threshold values. Over the first 9 weeks of the year, initial estimates of all-cause winter mortality in the region show that it is approximately 16% higher than expected mortality for all ages and 18% higher for those aged 85 and older (expected mortality calculated based on the previous 8 years). In week 09, there was a decrease in the number of deaths from all causes across all age groups and among those aged 85 and older compared to week 08. These estimates should be interpreted with caution, as the episode is not yet over and the data are not yet consolidated due to the usual delays in data transmission.
