Key points
Bronchiolitis (under 1 year old)
Epidemic activity has peaked. There has been a decrease in visits to hospital emergency rooms and SOS Médecins consultations. Virology laboratories at the region’s university hospitals report a decline in RSV detection in Rennes and stable levels in Brest.
Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.
COVID-19
Low activity.
Influenza and flu-like illness
Epidemic activity. Stable number of emergency room visits and a slight decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations for influenza and flu-like illness. Cases are decreasing among children and increasing among adults, particularly the elderly. Increase in the detection of influenza A virus according to data from the virology laboratories at the Rennes University Hospital and the Brest University Hospital.
Gastroenteritis
Moderate activity. Increase in the number of SOS Médecins consultations (among adults) and slight decrease in the number of emergency room visits across all age groups.
ENT Conditions
High activity related to ENT conditions. In Week 52, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 14% of emergency department visits and 51.3% of SOS Médecins consultations. Increase in the detection rate of rhinoviruses/enteroviruses by the Virology Laboratory at Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate of 24.2% in Week 52 compared to 11.9% in Week 51).
Pneumonias
Significant increase in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations for pneumonia, affecting adults.
Asthma
High activity. Increase in SOS Médecins consultations (among adults) and decrease in emergency department visits (particularly among children), all ages.
