Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour®: Continued decline in the number of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis since Week 48 (113 in Week 51 vs. 155 in Week 50, a decrease of 27%), and in the associated visit rate observed over the past few weeks. Bronchiolitis accounts for 14% of emergency department visits for children under 2 years of age, and 28% of these visits resulted in hospitalization in Week 51.

  • SOS Médecins: decrease in monitored indicators compared to Week 50 (17 consultations in Week 51 vs. 20 in Week 50). Bronchiolitis accounts for 6% of diagnoses for children under 2 years of age.

Flu

  • Oscour®: increase in emergency department visits with 56 visits in S51 (compared to 41 visits in S50, a 37% increase). Diagnoses of influenza and influenza-like illnesses account for 0.4% of total activity in hospital emergency departments (compared to 0.3% in Week 50); 36% of visits resulted in hospitalization (compared to 37% in Week 50).

  • SOS Médecins: continued increase in the number of consultations for influenza and influenza-like illnesses, with 260 consultations (compared to 236 in Week 50, a 10% increase), representing 6.0% of total activity.

Covid-19

  • Oscour®: The number of visits stabilized compared to the previous week, remaining at a low level (161 visits in Week 51 versus 157 in Week 50); 55% of these visits resulted in hospitalization. Suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 1.1% of emergency department activity across all age groups.

  • SOS Médecins: slight decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations, remaining at a low level (116 consultations in Week 51 compared to 128 in Week 50, a decrease of 9%). Across all age groups, suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 2.7% of SOS Médecins activity in Week 51 (compared to 2.9% in Week 50).

Pneumonia

  • Oscour®: Decrease in emergency department visits, with 358 visits in Week 51 (compared to 405 visits in Week 50, a decrease of 12%), across all age groups. Children under 15 accounted for 20% of cases (compared to 23% in Week 50). Pneumonias accounted for 2.3% of emergency department visits in this age group.

  • SOS Médecins: decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations for pneumonia in S51 following the peak observed in S50, with 157 consultations (compared to 181 in S50, a decrease of 13%). Children under 15 accounted for 31% of cases (compared to 44% in S50). Pneumonias account for 3.7% of consultations in this age group.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Oscour®: sharp increase in emergency room visits across all age groups in S51, with 169 visits (compared to 127 in S50, a 33% increase). Children under 5 account for 50% (similar to S50) of cases, and gastroenteritis accounts for 6.0% of visits for this age group (compared to 4.3% in S50) and 1.1% across all ages.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of SOS Médecins consultations for gastroenteritis continued to rise, with 261 consultations in S51 (compared to 257 in S50, an increase of 1%). Children under 5 account for 20% of consultations (compared to 16% in S50). Across all age groups, gastroenteritis accounts for 6.0% of total SOS Médecins activity and 7.8% among children under 5 (compared to 6.1% in S50).

Asthma

  • Oscour®: Continued decline in the number of emergency room visits since Week 47, with 138 visits in Week 51 across all age groups. Children under 15 account for 52% of cases. Asthma accounts for 2% of emergency room visits for this age group (compared to 3% in Week 50).

  • SOS Médecins: slight increase in the number of SOS Médecins consultations for asthma in Week 51, with 64 consultations (compared to 54 in Week 50). Children under 15 account for 50% of cases (compared to 37% in Week 50).
