  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for ischemic heart disease in Brittany (401 vs. 459 per 100,000 inhabitants in France) was lower than that of France, with an average of 11,606 patients hospitalized per year in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 4.8% in the region, lower than that of France (5.5%). The standardized mortality rate (2020–2022), however, was higher in the region (67 per 100,000 inhabitants) compared to the national rate (59).

  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for heart failure in Brittany was slightly higher than that of France (368 vs. 344 per 100,000 inhabitants), with an average of 10,939 patients hospitalized per year in the region. The standardized prevalence was 2.3% in 2022 in the region, very slightly lower than that of France (2.5%). The standardized mortality rate (2020–2022) was slightly higher in the region compared to France (49 vs. 46 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively).

  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for stroke in Brittany was slightly higher than that of France (259 vs. 231 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively), with an average of 13,736 patients hospitalized annually in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 2.2% in the region, slightly higher than the national prevalence (2.0%). The standardized mortality rate in the region (65 per 100,000 inhabitants) was higher than that of France (58).

  • At the subregional level, several departments in the region had higher incidence rates (notably Côtes d’Armor and Finistère) than the rest of the region, with some heterogeneity also observed at the subdepartmental level.
