Among adults aged 18 to 75, in 2017, the standardized prevalence of daily alcohol consumption was 8.9%. This regional prevalence was not different from that of other metropolitan areas. Daily alcohol consumption varied by sex and age: men (13.4% versus 5.8% for women) and those aged 61–75 (26.0% versus 2.1% among those aged 18–30 and 1.3% among those aged 31–45) had higher rates of daily alcohol consumption.
Among adults aged 18 to 75, in 2017, the standardized prevalence of heavy episodic drinking (HED) was 16.9%. This regional prevalence was not different from that of other metropolitan areas. Monthly BES were more common among men (28.1% versus 5.8% for women) and among those aged 18–30 (28.6% versus 11.3% among those aged 61–75).
Among 17-year-olds in 2017, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was among the regions with a high prevalence of alcohol experimentation (87.6%). The prevalence rates for regular alcohol use and heavy episodic drinking—9.2% and 17.7%, respectively—were not different from the average for metropolitan France.
Among women, the incidence and mortality rates for esophageal cancer and the mortality rate for laryngeal cancer are significantly lower than the average for metropolitan France.
