Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of July 13, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation is on the rise in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté for the sixth consecutive week, with incidence and positivity rates increasing in all departments and across all age groups. All departments now have an incidence rate above 1%. SOS Médecins activity is high (over 10%).

The Omicron variant is the only one circulating in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (100% of RT-PCR tests sequenced in S25). The BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages of the Omicron variant account for more than 80% in all departments except the Territoire-de-Belfort, Yonne, and Nièvre, according to screening data; however, sequencing results are too limited to confirm this.

Regarding hospital activity, the number of new hospitalizations is on the rise. The number of new admissions to intensive care has increased further compared to last week (34 vs. 26 in Week 26), with a particularly sharp rise in admission rates among those aged 80 and older.

Given the increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2, adherence to combined measures is essential, particularly to protect the most vulnerable populations: it remains necessary to self-isolate if you have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19. It is essential for individuals to follow preventive measures, including wearing a mask (in the presence of vulnerable people and in crowded indoor spaces, particularly on public transportation or at large gatherings), handwashing, and frequently ventilating enclosed spaces.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • No unusual increase in activity at emergency departments or SOS Médecins clinics in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

  • Indicators of heat-related illnesses remain stable at a low level.
