Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of August 14, 2020.
Headlines - Coronavirus: Update and Prevention Tools
Since the lifting of lockdown on May 11, 2020, Regional Health Agencies, in collaboration with regional units of Santé publique France and local partners, have been investigating clusters or outbreaks of infection. Identifying and then testing individuals who have been in contact with confirmed cases helps control these clusters and limit the spread of the disease.
As of August 11, 2020, in mainland France, the number of departments classified as having moderate or high vulnerability to SARS-CoV-2 continues to rise (21 departments classified as moderate vulnerability and 2 as high vulnerability, compared to 11 and 1, respectively, on August 5).
The circulation of the virus is progressing and intensifying. It affects all age groups, particularly young adults (with a particularly marked increase in incidence among those aged 25–35). In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, approximately twenty reports of clusters of cases or situations in communities are currently under investigation, being addressed, or being monitored.
In the midst of the summer season, a significant portion of these situations is linked to gatherings with family or friends and the resulting chains of transmission. This context calls for maintaining—and even strengthening, where necessary—the various measures that have been taken to curb the spread of the virus in the community. It is essential to remain highly vigilant and to follow preventive measures and social distancing guidelines to prevent the transmission of the virus in public spaces, as well as at home and within one’s immediate circle, exercising extra caution when vulnerable individuals are present.
Wearing a mask alone is not enough to protect against the virus; it must be combined with other preventive measures that are part of daily life with the virus: washing your hands very regularly, greeting others without shaking hands, avoiding hugs, and keeping your distance from one another.
Anyone experiencing symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or having even the slightest doubt should get tested as soon as possible and consult a doctor immediately. Numerous screening and diagnostic tools are available, allowing everyone to help break the chains of transmission.
