COVID-19

In Week 10, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation is rising again after six consecutive weeks of sharp decline. The incidence rate is 440 per 100,000 inhabitants (+18%). It is increasing in all age groups except those aged 90 and older, as well as in all departments except the Loire. Testing and positivity rates are also on the rise. In Week 10, the highest incidence rates are in Cantal, Allier, and Ardèche.

The number of new hospitalizations for COVID-19 and the number of admissions to intensive care continue to decline in Week 10 (down 11% and 20%, respectively, in Week 10). The total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 decreased by 11% between March 8 and March 15, and the number of patients in intensive care units fell by 22%.

Influenza

During Week 10 (March 7–13, 2022), in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness rose sharply. In Week 10, 960 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (+77% compared to Week 9), representing 2% of all visits across all age groups (1.2% in Week 9). Among these visits, 628 cases (65% vs. 67% in Week 09) were under 15 years of age, and 75 cases (5% vs. 7% in Week 09) were 65 years of age or older. Of these 960 visits, 90 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 9.4% for this diagnosis, down from S09 (10.5%). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 1.1% of all hospitalizations in Week 10, stable compared to the previous week (0.7% in Week 9).
