Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of July 13, 2023.
Key Points
In Guadeloupe, the spread of the virus continues to expand across the archipelago, with two new outbreaks identified in Basse-Terre.
In Martinique, the spread of the dengue virus continues and is extending to the north and center of the island. An outbreak has been identified in Trois-Îlets.
Several dozen cases of dengue have been imported into mainland France since the start of the resurgence in cases (November 2022 for Guadeloupe and January 2023 for Martinique). The DENV-2 serotype has been identified in the majority of investigated cases.
In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, the epidemiological situation is calm but should be monitored closely.
As a reminder, following the June 21 meeting of members of the Interregional Technical Committee on Arboviruses for the four territories, Santé publique France in the Antilles considers that the epidemiological situation corresponds to active virus circulation in Guadeloupe and Martinique: outbreaks with potential for expansion or multiple outbreaks with epidemiological links between them (PSAGE* Phase 2, Level 2). In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, Phase 1 remains in effect: sporadic cases.
