Key Points
Extreme Heat, Heat Wave
- A first heatwave affected the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region from June 22 to July 2. All departments were placed under an orange heatwave alert during this period, except for the Hautes-Alpes (yellow). A new heatwave began on July 5. To date, three departments have been placed under an orange heatwave alert (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Bouches-du-Rhône, and Vaucluse) and two under a yellow alert (Hautes-Alpes and Var).
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
- Since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 37 imported cases have been identified in the region: 11 cases of chikungunya and 26 cases of dengue (no new cases compared to the previous week).
- The import pressure is much lower than it was during the same period in 2025.
- No locally acquired cases have been detected in mainland France.
West Nile virus infections
- No locally acquired cases have been detected in mainland France since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1).
Pollen and Allergies
- In S27, pollen exposure is at a low to moderate level in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region. Allergy-related visits to SOS Médecins are up slightly this week, at a level comparable to the same period in the previous two years.
