Key Points
Malaria
- Resurgence of malaria cases in Mayotte: 26 new cases were reported in week 21, including 13 suspected to have been acquired locally, mainly in municipalities in the southern part of the island.
- Since the beginning of 2026, 197 cases of malaria have been recorded, including 71 suspected to have been acquired locally, 109 imported cases—mostly from the Comoros—and 17 cases of undetermined status.
Chikungunya
- There has been a marked decline in the weekly number of cases since Week 17, falling from 47 cases in Week 17 to 16 cases in Week 21, representing an overall decrease of 65.9%, reflecting a clear slowdown in the epidemic’s momentum.
- Since the beginning of the year, 1,311 biologically confirmed cases have been recorded, exceeding the total annual number of cases reported in 2025 (1,266 cases).
Mpox
- Increase in the number of mpox cases since late April 2026, with a marked rise in weeks 20 and 21 (5 weekly cases each), corresponding to the highest weekly incidence rate observed since the start of the year, comparable only to that of week 06 (early February).
- Since the beginning of the year, 29 confirmed cases of mpox have been identified in the country, including 11 imported cases and 18 locally acquired cases.
