Key Points
Malaria
- 15 new cases were reported in week 22, including 13 suspected to have been acquired locally, mainly in municipalities in the southern part of the island.
- Since the beginning of 2026, 212 cases of malaria have been recorded, including 70 suspected to have been acquired locally, 129 imported cases, mostly from the Comoros, and 13 cases of undetermined status.
Smallpox B (Mpox)
- An increase in the number of mpox cases since late April 2026, with a marked rise in weeks 20 and 21 (7 cases in week 20 and 5 in week 21). In total, 31 cases have been recorded in Mayotte, including 13 imported cases and 18 locally acquired cases.
- Repeated imports from Madagascar have contributed to the emergence of local transmission chains, which are responsible for the majority of indigenous cases.
Chikungunya
- A sharp decline in activity following the peak observed in week S16 (141 cases), with 13 confirmed cases in S22 compared to 25 in S21 (-48%).
- 1,333 biologically confirmed cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year.
