Starting Saturday, November 1, 2025, Santé publique France and the Ministry of Health, Families, Autonomy, and People with Disabilities, in partnership with the National Health Insurance, are launching the 10th edition of the “Month Without Tobacco” challenge. This initiative encourages smokers to quit for 30 days. To mark this anniversary edition, “Mois sans tabac” is maintaining its commitment to smoking cessation with an expanded campaign, optimized tools, and increased grassroots mobilization: targeted regional initiatives to reach even more participants, particularly among populations most distant from healthcare services.
A collective effort for sustainable public health
Since 2016, Tobacco-Free Month has enabled more than 2.35 million people to try quitting smoking. In 2024, the campaign attracted nearly 134,000 registrants and 5,600 partners, confirming its status as a major public health initiative. Evaluation studies have shown that this program, which is one of the cornerstones of the National Tobacco Control Program, is highly effective. Return-on-investment data show that every euro invested in this program generates more than 7 euros in savings on healthcare costs, while preventing thousands of cases of tobacco-related diseases (cancers, COPD, respiratory infections, etc.).
Effective tools accessible to as many people as possible
To support participants, Mois sans tabac offers:
A dedicated website (mois-sans-tabac.fr) with personalized advice and daily check-ins.
The Tabac info service app, for free 24/7 support.
39 89, a hotline for free, personalized support from tobacco specialists.
Smoking cessation kits, available for free at pharmacies and online.
On-the-ground initiatives: information booths, workshops, and events throughout France, in collaboration with healthcare professionals, employers, and local businesses (list available on the Mois sans tabac website).
An expanded on-the-ground initiative in the regions
In 2025, Mois sans tabac is strengthening its regional presence with an expanded on-the-ground initiative. The various regions are organizing one or more information and support booths, set up in shopping centers, train stations, or public spaces, to reach out to smokers. Six regions (Occitanie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Brittany, Grand Est, Pays de la Loire, and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) will also deploy mobile outreach teams to strengthen this local presence by offering off-site consultations and smoking cessation workshops. These initiatives complement the 18,000 partner pharmacies, equipped with kits and window decals, and the local events listed on the interactive map at mois-sans-tabac.fr, allowing everyone to find a location near their home.
The 10th edition of Tobacco-Free Month is part of a historic trend: over the past ten years, the number of daily smokers in France has decreased by 4 million. This national challenge, which begins in a few days, is a concrete opportunity for anyone who wants to break free from smoking. One in two smokers wants to quit; now is the perfect time for them to join this challenge, which every year brings together healthcare professionals and numerous partners toward a common goal: the fight against tobacco use.
On Social Media: A Creative and Artistic Approach
From October 24 to November 30, to unite and motivate smokers in an original way, Tobacco-Free Month 2025 is launching the Stoplist, a musical campaign on social media (TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube). The goal? To replace the 3-minute urge to smoke with a song, covered by 6 influencer artists (Angy, Bleu Berline, Paul, Willbe, Hey! Fantôme, and Cerberas) and online communities. Participants are invited to create their own version of the song or to like the artists’ versions to unlock the music video. It’s a fun and modern way to take on the challenge, while integrating smoking cessation into pop culture.
