Proposals for the establishment of a national epidemiological surveillance system for cancer.

This article describes the current epidemiological surveillance of cancers (10 general registries and 8 specialized registries in France) and analyzes the prospects for expanding this surveillance, which could integrate hospital data from the PMSI system and data on ALD30 (long-term conditions) into the registries. At the same time, it is proposed to develop, in collaboration with anatomic and cytopathology (ACP) facilities, another surveillance tool based on structured and standardized reporting of ACP data. This surveillance system will be implemented within five years and will be rolled out at the regional level.
