  1. Epidemiological observation and surveillance of the population’s health status;

  2. Monitoring health risks threatening the population;

  3. Promoting health and reducing health risks;

Division of Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries (DMNTT) - Cancer Unit

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Cancer Unit, specifically the surveillance program, and under the supervision of the unit manager, the biostatistician will be responsible for collaborating with partners to develop algorithms for identifying skin cancers using the matched database. Once the algorithms have been validated, the biostatistician will apply the validated algorithms to estimate the incidence and prevalence of skin cancers at the national and subnational levels.

Activities

  • Participate in collaborative meetings between the various partners (Health Data Hub, cancer registries, etc.);

  • Using data from the various SNDS databases:

    • 1/ identify service entries (consultations, surgical procedures, laboratory tests, imaging procedures, medications, etc.) in the various SNDS databases (DCIR, PMSI);

    • 2/ reconstruct the diagnostic and treatment phases for patients treated for a lesion suspected of being skin cancer;

    • 3/ participate in the development of a priori algorithms;

  • Participate in evaluating the performance of these algorithms (by comparing them with validated cases from the Constances cohort);

  • After validation of the algorithms: apply the algorithms with performance deemed satisfactory to estimate the incidence and prevalence of skin cancers at the national and subnational levels;

  • Draft documentation regarding the development of these algorithms;

  • Present interim and final results to partners;

  • Make documentation on the algorithms and programs available, within a collaborative framework, in the HDH infrastructure to feed into the BOAS;

  • Participate in the dissemination of this program’s work (scientific articles, conference presentations, etc.).
