Santé publique France is France’s national public health agency. A public institution under the authority of the Minister of Health, established by Order No. 2016-246 of April 15, 2016, it works to promote public health. As a scientific and expert agency in the health sector, its missions include:

  1. Epidemiological observation and surveillance of the population’s health status;

  2. Monitoring health risks threatening the population;

  3. Promoting health and reducing health risks;

  4. Developing prevention and health education;

  5. Preparation for and response to health threats, alerts, and crises;

  6. Issuing health alerts.

The agency is organized around scientific and cross-functional departments, as well as departments providing operational support.
Its work program, approved by its Board of Directors, is structured around five priority areas: health determinants, populations, diseases, interventions and regions, and infrastructure.

Regional Directorate (DiRe)

Responsibilities

Reporting to the regional delegate, the successful candidate will carry out the Regional Unit’s work related to health monitoring and early warning, the provision and interpretation of regional health indicators, and support for regional health policies as outlined in the Regional Unit’s annual work plan.

Activities

  • Contribute to the handling of health alerts (receipt, validation, and investigation, feedback):

    • Handling health alerts and conducting epidemiological surveillance (defining appropriate methodologies, carrying out related investigations—particularly in the field—summarizing and communicating investigation results, and disseminating findings).

    • Regional coordination of health surveillance and alerts (participation in thematic working groups, development of tools, facilitation of training sessions, serving as the regional point of contact for exceptional health situations).

  • Establishing and coordinating regional surveillance programs in the fields of environmental health (waterborne diseases, leptospirosis, etc.) and proposing preventive measures;

  • Conduct epidemiological surveys to better describe the health status of populations and the determinants of disease;

  • Represent the agency before local partners and local thematic committees and support these partners;

  • Facilitate the local partner network;

  • Draft publications: reports, scientific articles, and presentations;

  • Participate in on-call duties for the regional unit;

  • The successful candidate will represent the agency in dealings with the media. They will also provide guidance and supervision to interns, trainees, and research technicians, as well as oversee training activities with partners.

  • They will participate in any action falling within the Agency’s mandate if necessary during a crisis, within the limits of their expertise.

The missions, activities, and objectives described above are subject to change, particularly in light of periodic revisions to Santé publique France’s strategic directions and program of activities. The successful candidate may be required to participate in other projects as needed.
