The objective of this article is to analyze trends in the residual risk of HIV transmission, HCV, and HBV, over nine three-year periods from 1992–1994 to 1999–2002 and, for HIV and HCV, to compare estimates of the benefits of viral genomic testing with the results observed between July 1, 2001, the date of its implementation, and June 30, 2003.
