Health Recommendations for Travelers 2005 (for healthcare professionals).
Travelers, regardless of their destination or travel conditions, often experience health problems. It should be noted that infectious causes of death or serious illness are rare, largely because the following recommendations help prevent them. These recommendations were developed by the Committee on Travel-Related and Imported Diseases and approved by the French High Council for Public Health at its meeting on May 27, 2005. They take into account data from the National Reference Center for the Epidemiology of Imported and Indigenous Malaria (CNREPIA) and the National Reference Center for Malaria Chemoresistance (CNRCP). This text essentially reiterates the recommendations from 2004. This year, there is a change in the recommendations regarding malaria prevention for seven coastal countries in West Africa, which are now classified as Zone 3 (Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire). Additionally, about ten countries in the Middle East and Asia have been reclassified into different zones at the recommendation of the WHO. The recommendations in this document cannot account for changes in risks associated with emerging diseases. Travel recommendations are therefore subject to change depending on the evolving international situation.
