Key points for Weeks 9 and 10 (February 28–March 13, 2011)

  • The number of reported cases of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning during weeks 9 and 10 (n=42) has decreased significantly (-46%) compared to the number of reports from the previous two-week period (n=78).

  • During the same period the previous year, the number of reports was still high (n=97).

  • No mass incidents in public buildings were reported to the surveillance system during weeks 9 and 10.

  • One accidental death in a residential setting was reported to the surveillance system. According to the information available at the time of the report, this death was caused by a boiler malfunction.
