Everything You Need to Know About Malnutrition Awareness Week
The Coalition Against Malnutrition is organizing the second annual National Malnutrition Awareness Week in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the National Nutrition and Health Plan, and the Mutualité Française.
As part of the National Nutrition and Health Plan, National Malnutrition Awareness Week aims to raise awareness among both the general public and healthcare and support professionals about the challenges, preventive measures, and treatments for this silent disease that affects 2 million French people: hospitalized patients, elderly people living at home, or in care facilities.
For the second consecutive year, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health has entrusted the Collective Against Malnutrition with the organization and coordination of this public health event, which is part of the 2019-2023 National Nutrition and Health Plan (PNNS 4). The Collective is counting on the participation of all stakeholders involved in the fight against malnutrition to carry out initiatives during the Week or simply to highlight the efforts they make throughout the year!
To get involved in the fight against malnutrition
You can get involved in National Malnutrition Awareness Week and share the initiatives you wish to carry out or highlight during the Week. Simply fill out the registration form by September 30, 2021. It allows you to propose your initiatives, have them certified, and order free communication kits.
What is malnutrition?
Malnutrition is a pathological condition characterized by an energy imbalance. In other words, it involves an insufficient intake relative to our nutritional needs. Patients suffering from malnutrition experience acute immune deficiency, which can lead to new infections, other complications, and sometimes even death.
