Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Thyroid
In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of thyroid cancer was 10,665, including 2,600 in men and 8,065 in women. The estimated number of deaths from thyroid cancer was 386, including 159 in men and 227 in women for that same year. Key points: 5-year age-standardized net survival of 97% among women diagnosed between 2010 and 2015, and 93% among men; same level of net survival at 1 and 5 years up to age 70 among women and up to age 60 among men, followed by a decline; Improvement in 1-, 5-, and 10-year standardized net survival since 1990; Improvement in 1-, 5-, and 10-year net survival since 1990 among people aged 70 and older, though not reaching the prognosis of younger individuals; High long-term net survival among people under 60 years of age.
