Survival of Cancer Patients in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Lung, Adenocarcinoma

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of lung adenocarcinoma was 24,791, including 15,293 in men and 9,498 in women. Key points: The 5-year age-standardized net survival rate is higher among women than among men (27% versus 20%) for cancers diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; An 11-percentage-point improvement in the 5-year age-standardized net survival rate between 1990 and 2015; An improvement in 1-year net survival between 1990 and 2015 across all age groups, but most notably for those aged 70 and older (1-year survival for those aged 70 caught up with that of younger patients by the end of the period); Net survival gains maintained 5 years after diagnosis across all age groups, except among those aged 80 and older, for whom these benefits diminish; Improvement in 10-year net survival between 1990 and 2010 regardless of age.
