Health Barometer 2000: Methodology. Volume 1.
The Health Barometer is a periodic survey designed to gauge the opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of the French population regarding health. The 2000 edition was conducted among a sample of 13,685 people. They were given a multi-topic questionnaire covering various health-related factors, such as tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use, physical activity, vaccination, sexuality, and more. For this new edition, the survey also included new indicators regarding quality of life, experiences of violence, and suicidal thoughts. The 2000 edition is presented in two volumes. The first volume focuses on the methodology used. It informs the reader about the context, the history of the Health Barometer, the method chosen for data collection, the development and presentation of the questionnaire, as well as the implementation of the field survey, including the selection of the polling institute, the conduct of the pilot survey, and the proposed survey protocol. The second volume presents the results. After defining the statistical terms used, the following 14 chapters provide a detailed analysis of each topic addressed in the survey, followed by reflections and discussions regarding the results obtained.
