Well-being: Life Satisfaction Score. Santé publique France Barometer: Results of the 2024 Edition

In 2024, the majority of adults aged 18 to 79 report being relatively satisfied with their current lives. The average score for current life satisfaction is 7.1 out of 10. The average score for men is comparable to that for women; those aged 30–39 and 60–79 report being more satisfied with their current lives. Disparities are observed in terms of socioeconomic status and living conditions, particularly based on perceived financial situation. People residing in the overseas departments and regions (DROM) report, on average, a lower level of life satisfaction compared to residents of mainland France. Life satisfaction among people with mental health disorders (characterized depressive episodes, generalized anxiety disorders) or a history of suicidal behavior (suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts) appears significantly lower than that of individuals without such conditions.
