Technical information on occupational exposure to man-made mineral fibers. Job-exposure matrices for man-made mineral fibers: mineral wool, refractory ceramic fibers
The purpose of this guide is to present the job-exposure matrices specific to man-made mineral fibers developed by the Department of Occupational Health (DST) of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) and ESSAT (Associated Team in Occupational Health; InVS-DST/Isped-LSTE; Bordeaux), and to provide technical information on occupational exposure to these products in France from 1945 to 2007 (mineral wool) and from 1960 to 2007 (refractory ceramic fibers—FCR). The job-exposure matrices provide, for all jobs considered to be exposed in France, a probability, frequency, and intensity of exposure for mineral wool (defined here as glass, rock, and slag wool) and for RCFs. These matrices for mineral wool and refractory ceramic fibers, each accompanied by a summary presentation document, are available on the InVS website (http://www.invs.sante.fr). (R.A.)
