Epidemiology of Domestic Violence in France and Western Countries: A Literature Review (2013), Updated in 2016
In 2013, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (which became Santé publique France in May 2016) commissioned Sepia Santé—selected through a competitive bidding process—to conduct a study aimed at synthesizing all available scientific publications on the epidemiology of domestic violence in France and Western countries: number and distribution (geographic, sociodemographic, economic), contributing factors, trends over time, outcomes for individuals (victims, perpetrators) and their loved ones, impact on health, individual and societal costs, etc. This work led to the completion of a report in August 2013, which was updated in July 2016, for the drafting of an article on this subject in the Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin: Guillam MT, Ségala C, Cassagne E, François C, Thélot B. Epidemiology of domestic violence in France and Western countries. Bull Epidémiol Hebd. 2016;(22-23):385-9. To provide access to this work, this report has been compiled, and therefore contains: the August 2013 report (pages 2–81); the July 2016 update (pages 82–110)
