Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of July 17, 2023.
Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2023, 11 imported cases of dengue and 1 case of chikungunya have been identified. No cases of Zika have been identified.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 22 entomological surveys and 15 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.
Nationwide, from May 1 to July 13, 2023, the following were confirmed:
169 imported cases of dengue, 5 imported cases of chikungunya, and 0 imported cases of Zika.
The imported dengue cases were mainly from Martinique (42), Guadeloupe (40), Thailand (16), Côte d’Ivoire (14), and Indonesia (11).
In the overseas departments, several outbreaks are currently active in French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and Martinique. For more information: dengue surveillance data for overseas territories.
