Prevention, everyday habits, and screenings.

Diet, physical activity, screenings, and vaccinations all reflect preventive behaviors, albeit to varying degrees. In the early 2000s, an overview of the situation in France shed light on some of these behaviors. More than 80% of people aged 18 and older reported eating a "fairly" or "well-balanced" diet. As for regular physical activity, more than four in ten people engage in it, though this is more common among those under 25 and over 45. Regarding the prevention of cervical and breast cancer, the practice of regular screening, as recommended by health policies, appears to be followed by a majority of women. In contrast, colon cancer screening remains much less common. While HIV testing is most often performed as part of a routine examination, hepatitis C testing is more likely to be initiated by a general practitioner. Finally, 70% of 18- to 24-year-olds are vaccinated against hepatitis B. [author’s summary]
