CPS Cognitive Worksheet: Positive Self-Assessment (C1.5)

This fact sheet focuses on the first general cognitive psychosocial competency (PSC) and provides an overview of a specific cognitive psychosocial competency: Positive Self-Evaluation (C1.5). The ability to engage in positive self-evaluation is based on the capacity to form a positive judgment about oneself and to maintain a positive and compassionate attitude toward oneself. It involves, on the one hand, becoming aware of one’s qualities, skills, resources, and strengths, and on the other hand, being able to develop a caring and constructive relationship with oneself. Positive self-evaluation involves developing two main psychological skills: Skill 1: Enhancing one’s self-image by recognizing one’s qualities, personal strengths, and skills; Skill 2: Developing a caring and constructive relationship with oneself. This specific skill can be applied during CPS activities. Thus, following a theoretical section, practical examples are presented for adults, youth, and children.
