Theoretical and Practical Guidelines for the Activities of the Health Services Department for Health Sciences Students

This document brings together theoretical and practical guidelines related to the training objectives of the health service. The health service "contributes to health promotion, particularly prevention, in all settings and throughout the life course. It addresses public health challenges by promoting health-promoting behaviors and contributes to reducing social and regional health inequalities. It facilitates the training of future health professionals and enhances their awareness of these issues by ensuring they master the necessary skills and knowledge” (Article D 4071-1 of the Public Health Code). These guidelines on prevention and health promotion are provided to offer useful, concise information to students, host organizations, and instructors. Developed with a focus on practical application, they provide a foundational framework based on the work and resources made available by Santé publique France. They are not exhaustive and are intended to complement the instruction, resources, and guidance offered by educational institutions and student host organizations. Student training and support are key to the smooth operation of student health services. Prevention needs and the significance of the main risk factors, prevention successes, and expected potential benefits are described at the beginning of Part 1. Next, the definitions, concepts, and general principles of prevention and health promotion interventions are addressed. Part 2 provides practical guidelines regarding prevention interventions.
