"Have a Good Day/Stay Healthy" Health Promotion Program for Older Adults

The "Good Day, Good Health" initiative is designed for health promotion and prevention specialists working with vulnerable older adults. It is part of the broader "Healthy Aging" program, which has been developed and implemented by Santé publique France since 2004 in partnership with pension funds. This program supports the adoption of individual protective behaviors among people aged 55 and older to promote healthy aging. The "Have a Good Day, Stay Healthy" kit is therefore intended for professionals—facilitators, prevention officers, social workers, health mediators, and social service volunteers—who work with older adults facing precarious circumstances, whether economic, social, or cultural. It can only be ordered by these professionals. It consists of eight resources that interact and complement one another. Professionals will find tools to research topics related to “healthy aging” and prepare their interventions, while older adults are provided with materials to identify and remember protective behaviors. Each component includes: 1. a video tutorial that familiarizes professionals with the program in just a few minutes 2. an accompanying booklet that allows them to work through the methodology, master the tools, and engage with “healthy aging” topics 3. dialogue cards to explore with participants their health knowledge and daily practices regarding six topics: diet, physical activity, preventive health, brain activity, social connections, and housing 4. six advice sheets summarizing key points, tips, and resources on “aging well” to address the questions of older adults during individual or group interviews 5. the preliminary study that led to the development of the program 6. stickers for older adults featuring the illustrations from the conversation cards, helping them express their habits and health plans and visually recall important information and appointments. 7. A poster, given to the older adult at the end of the session, summarizes positive behaviors and areas for action using emojis 8. A perpetual calendar, which provides seasonal advice and serves as a tool to record recommendations and points of attention over time, is described and can be downloaded at http://www.pourbienvieillir.fr/bonne-journee-bonne-sante-dispositif-dintervention-en-promotion-de-la-sante-pour-les-personnes In addition to the eight materials, each kit contains 30 copies of those intended for the older adult: 30 posters, 30 stickers, and 30 calendars.
