When it comes to prevention, good intentions aren't enough.
Prevention has now established its legitimacy within Western healthcare systems. It is even regarded as a beneficial activity in and of itself. The lack of prevention is consequently criticized. This is linked to strong public demand for prevention, the involvement of civil society—which is taking numerous initiatives (through organizations, volunteers, and citizens)—and a genuine lack of knowledge in this field. Creativity in prevention is therefore strong—which we should welcome; however, the evaluation of its effectiveness and impacts is rare—which is regrettable. [article excerpt]
