Validated or Promising Interventions for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): A Literature Review.
The number of cases of sexually transmitted infections has been on the rise in France over the past decade. Combating these infections is one of the priorities of the 2010–2014 National Plan to Combat HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections. This article presents the main scientific findings on effective interventions for preventing non-HIV sexually transmitted infections among various target groups. This review of the evidence was conducted using a specific method for selecting and analyzing the scientific literature and classifying the interventions identified. The majority of interventions target adolescents and are implemented in school settings. This study identified thirty-seven effective interventions. This document should facilitate the selection of new initiatives and the optimization of ongoing efforts in this field. [author’s abstract]
