Networking of information practices within health education committees.

In late 2001, a National Group of Health Education Librarians was formed with the goal of "contributing to the development of a consistent library service across the country in the field of health education." The National Group of Health Education Librarians then decided to conduct an assessment of library activities within regional and departmental health education committees in order to establish working subgroups best suited to its objective. The survey revealed available expertise within the committees, despite disparities across departments and regions regarding qualifications, resources, and library practices. Based on these findings, the National Group of Health Education Librarians established working groups and gradually organized itself into a networked structure. This approach could form the foundation of a national health education documentation network, as recommended by law within the framework of the missions assigned to INPES. [author’s abstract]
