Due to a lack of organization and financial support, the option of using a trained interpreter remains largely unknown in France and is not widely accessible to professionals in the medical and social services sector. Yet interpretation is essential to ensure that all patients have equal access to care and preventive services as the rest of the population. Every patient must understand what is being offered to them, if only to be able to give informed consent and take the best possible care of their health. Language is therefore key.
