Cancer screening. The InVS evaluates organized screening programs

The 2003–2007 Cancer Plan identified a number of priority actions in the fight against cancer, foremost among which is access to high-quality screening. Early-stage screening increases the chances of recovery, allows for less invasive treatments, and correspondingly reduces mortality. Organized screening programs have been in place since 1989–1990 for breast and cervical cancer, and more recently for colorectal cancer. The production and analysis of indicators to evaluate these programs have been entrusted to the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS). (Introduction)
