In 2000, at the request of the CNAMTS, a section on accidents in daily life—covering accidents that occurred during the previous three months and required the services of a healthcare professional (doctor, pharmacist, nurse, physical therapist, dentist, hospitalization, etc.)—was added to the “health” questionnaire. This survey sheds new light on morbidity related to accidents in daily life. The distribution of accidents by cause (domestic, sports, school, leisure, or other), as well as the age and gender characteristics of those involved, have indeed undergone some changes since the early 1990s: fewer domestic accidents, more sports accidents, and a sharp decline in excess morbidity among young children.
