Medical and administrative data

The National Health Data System (SNDS) brings together the main existing medical-administrative and public health databases in France: the National Health Insurance system, hospitals, the database of medical causes of death, and, in the future, data on disabilities and a sample of data from supplemental health insurance providers. Its purpose is to facilitate studies, research, and evaluation using health data.

In the future, BDMA could contribute to the surveillance of congenital anomalies. Studies are underway to assess the reliability of these databases and the feasibility of using them for the surveillance of congenital anomalies.
