Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin, May 19, 2020, Special Issue: Health Recommendations for Travelers, 2020 (for healthcare professionals)
These recommendations were developed by the Committee on Travel-Related and Imported Diseases and adopted by the High Council for Public Health. They apply to all travelers, regardless of their destination or travel conditions. Since COVID-19 emerged after the High Council for Public Health drafted these recommendations, you will not find a section on the pandemic. The HCSP regularly issues opinions regarding risks, prevention, and the management of care for people with COVID-19... These opinions are available online at https://www.hcsp.fr/Explore.cgi/PointSur?clef=2 Several updates to the 2019 recommendations for travelers are worth noting: incorporation of HAS recommendations on vaccinations, a reminder regarding the conditions for using chloroquine, dangers associated with Artemisia-based preparations, risks related to ticks and animals other than arthropods, etc. Three points deserve particular attention: • In accordance with WHO recommendations, for certain countries where Plasmodium vivax is highly prevalent, it may be justified—in situations of high exposure and aside from the use of chloroquine—to prescribe other antimalarial drugs; • An epidemiological map of rabies has been added to inform the recommendation for preventive vaccination in “high-risk” countries; • A sidebar summarizing recommendations for pregnant or breastfeeding women (who are traveling), in order to address the significantly growing demand from this population.
