SOS Médecins National Newsletter, January 26, 2026

Key Points

In Week 04* (January 19–25, 2026), activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose again among those under 15, though less sharply than the previous week (+9%, or 2,315 visits, vs. +33% in Week 03). Activity remained stable among those aged 15–74 and declined among those aged 75 and older (-8%, or -470 procedures).

The increase in activity among those under 15 was driven by a rise in medical procedures for upper respiratory tract conditions (+19%, or +2,113 procedures). Consultations were also on the rise in this age group, with figures remaining comparable to previous years, for:

  • acute bronchitis (+17%, or +184 procedures);

  • pneumonia (+18%, or +42 cases);

  • asthma attacks (+31%, or +105 procedures);

  • bronchiolitis in children under 1 year of age (+17%, or +38 cases).

Consultations for COVID-19/suspected COVID-19 increased slightly among children under 15 (67 cases vs. 31 in S03). Consultations for influenza/influenza-like illness, however, decreased, particularly among adults (-10%, or -809 cases).

Among children, there was also an increase in visits for viral syndrome among those aged 2–14 (+8%, or +33 visits), as well as for infectious conjunctivitis and chickenpox among children under 15 (respectively +29%, or +170 visits, and +69%, or +133 visits).
Digestive indicators were on the rise among children, with an increase in procedures among children under 2 years of age for gastroenteritis (+8%, or +43 procedures) and for diarrhea (+26%, or +17 procedures), as well as for vomiting among 2- to 14-year-olds (+8%, or +16 procedures).

Among adults, visits for infectious conjunctivitis increased among those aged 15–74 (+11%, or +38 visits), as did visits for low back pain/sciatica among those aged 75 and older (+12%, or +20 visits).
