Key Points
In Week 19 (May 5–11, 2025), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits were stable or declining across all age groups.
Among children aged 2–14, there was an increase in visits due to asthma attacks (+7%, or +79 visits).
There was also an increase in emergency department visits for neurological problems, both among those aged 2–14 (+12%, or 93 visits) and among those aged 15–74 (+6%, or 400 visits).
An increase in visits related to acute digestive conditions was observed: among 2- to 14-year-olds for nonspecific abdominal pain (+9%, or +236 visits), among those aged 75 and older for gastroenteritis (+9%, or +18 visits), and for vomiting (+10%, or +28 visits). Finally, among those aged 15–74, there was also an increase in visits for specific abdominal pain (+8%, or +430 visits).
Among those aged 45–64, there was also an increase in visits for suicide attempts (+5%, or +17 visits).
Finally, among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for gastroenteritis (+9%, or +18 visits) and for vomiting (+10%, or +28 visits).
