Key Points

In Week 51 (December 15–21, 2025), the number of emergency department visits and the number of hospitalizations following those visits remained stable across all age groups.

Respiratory indicators continued to rise, with case numbers at levels comparable to or lower than those of previous years:

  • All ages: influenza/flu-like illness (+44%, or +2,527 visits; share of activity increased to 4% from 2.8% in Week 50).

  • In children: acute bronchitis (+15%, or +98 visits) and suspected COVID-19 in small numbers (+10%, or +13 visits).

  • In adults: pneumonia and ENT infections (up 10% and 8%, respectively, or 556 and 296 visits), as well as, in those aged 75 and older, acute bronchitis (up 12%, or 55 visits), asthma attacks (+32%, or +41 visits), and dyspnea/respiratory failure (+6%, or +126 visits).

Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for:

  • Isolated fever: among those under 15 and those aged 15–74 (respectively +17% and +13%, or +1,004 and +130 visits).

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms: vomiting among those aged 2–14 and those aged 75 and older (respectively +8% and +6%, or +96 and +20 visits) and gastroenteritis among those aged 75 and older (+8%, or +16 visits).

  • Dehydration: among those aged 2–14 and those aged 75 and older (up 19% and 10%, respectively, or 11 and 17 visits).
