Tetanus in France in 1985 (based on mandatory reporting)

The number of tetanus cases remains high in France, with 124 cases in 1985 compared to 115 in 1984. Of these 124 cases, 66 (53%) were investigated. Women are most commonly affected (68% of cases), as are older individuals (64% are over 70 years old). 44% of cases occur during the summer months. In 29% of cases where the outcome is known, the disease is fatal. In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, 4 cases of tetanus were reported in 1985.
