Santé publique France is France’s national public health agency. A public institution under the authority of the Minister of Health, established by Order No. 2016-246 of April 15, 2016, it works to promote public health. As a scientific and expert agency in the health sector, its missions include:
Epidemiological observation and surveillance of the population’s health status;
Monitoring health risks threatening the population;
Promoting health and reducing health risks;
Developing prevention and health education;
Preparation for and response to health threats, alerts, and crises;
Issuing health alerts.
The agency is organized around scientific and cross-functional departments, as well as departments providing operational support.
Its work program, approved by its Board of Directors, is structured around five priority areas: health determinants, populations, diseases, interventions and regions, and infrastructure.
Regional Office
Reporting to the Regional Unit Manager, the successful candidate will carry out the Regional Unit’s work on health surveillance and alerts, particularly regarding vaccine-preventable infectious diseases and acute respiratory infections, and will contribute to the development of regional health indicators and support for regional health policies as outlined in the Regional Unit’s annual work plan.
Contributing to the processing of health signals (including, but not limited to, vaccine-preventable infectious diseases):
Management of a health alert and epidemiological surveillance (definition of appropriate methodology, conducting or supporting the associated investigation, synthesis and communication of investigation results)
Regional coordination of health surveillance and alerts (participation in thematic working groups, development of tools, facilitation of training sessions)
Serving as a resource person on acute respiratory infections (ARI)
Epidemiological surveillance of influenza, bronchiolitis, and acute respiratory infections in the broad sense
Production of interpreted indicators and sharing with partners
Drafting of sections related to ARIs in the weekly epidemiological bulletin produced by the regional unit
Coordinating the surveillance network for severe ARI cases by engaging clinicians from intensive care units and laboratory specialists
Lead expert on surveillance of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses / zoonotic influenza
Virological surveillance
Establishment and coordination of regional surveillance programs in the field of diseases, particularly infectious diseases, and proposal of preventive measures
Leading or contributing to the conduct of epidemiological studies, including their budgetary and administrative aspects
Support and representation in SpF working groups and with local partners and local thematic committees
Drafting of publications: reports, scientific articles, communications
Participation in the regional unit’s on-call duties and national epidemiological on-call duties
The successful candidate will represent the agency with regional partners and may be required to respond to media inquiries.
They will also provide guidance and supervision to interns, trainees, and study technicians, as well as oversee training activities with partners.
They will participate in any action falling within the Agency’s mandate if necessary during a crisis, within the limits of their expertise.
The missions, activities, and objectives described above are subject to change, particularly in light of periodic revisions to Santé publique France’s strategic guidelines and program of activities. The successful candidate may be required to participate in other projects as needed.
