Use of paka (cannabis).

Pakalolo, or paka—the local term for cannabis and its derivatives—is by far the most commonly used illicit substance among adolescents in French Polynesia. The current legislation regarding drug control in French Polynesia is exactly the same as that applied in mainland France. Across all age groups, 29.3% of students report having smoked it at least once. 20.4% have used it within the past year, and 13.1% within the month preceding the survey. In total, 3.9% of the young people surveyed are regular users of paka, meaning they report having smoked it at least ten times in the past month.[excerpt from chapter]
