When Vision Loss Occurs: A Practical Guide for Adults and Their Loved Ones

Vision loss acquired later in life affects a growing number of people, especially the elderly. The impact and the challenges faced in daily life remain largely misunderstood. However, it is possible to maintain or regain independence by adapting one’s environment or adjusting one’s daily routines. This guide is the result of a collaborative effort by professionals, representatives of organizations, and people with vision loss. It provides practical answers to questions that arise for those who are losing their sight: Do I have to give up cooking? Can I still go out on the street? How can I read books? How can I maintain relationships with my friends? It was designed to serve as a tool for communication between those affected and their family, friends, and professionals.
