Santé publique France is France’s national public health agency. A public institution under the authority of the Minister of Health, formed through the merger of several public institutions and established by Ordinance 2016-246 of April 15, 2016, the agency works to promote public health. As a scientific, expert, and public health safety agency, its missions include:

  1. Epidemiological observation and surveillance of the population’s health status;
  2. Monitoring health risks threatening the population;
  3. Promoting health and reducing health risks;
  4. Developing prevention and health education;
  5. Preparation for and response to health threats, alerts, and crises;
  6. Issuing public health alerts.

The agency is organized into 12 departments—some scientific, some cross-functional, and some providing operational support.

The agency’s strategic priorities and work program, established by its Board
of Directors, are organized into three areas: Strengthening the capacity for anticipation and rapid response to health threats; Measuring and assessing the extent of diseases and risk factors to guide their prevention and control; Strengthening the health impact of all public policies and the prevention and promotion of health. 

Health, Environment, and Occupational Safety Directorate (DSET) - Exposure Monitoring Unit

Responsibilities

  • The research officer will be assigned to the Exposure Monitoring Unit under the
    supervision of the unit manager and will work as part of the cross-departmental project team established to finalize the fieldwork for the first cycle of the Albane survey and begin preparations for subsequent cycles.
  • The Albane Survey is a joint initiative co-led by Santé publique France (Santé publique France) and the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES). It is designed to provide the data necessary for carrying out their respective and complementary missions of monitoring and assessing health risks related to Food, Biomonitoring, Health, Nutrition, and the Environment (Albane).
  • The Albane survey consists of three components: “Food and Nutrition,” “Health Status ,”
    and “Biomonitoring,” which are based on a common survey structure comprising a
    questionnaire-based survey, the collection of clinical and paraclinical data through a health examination, and the collection of biological samples for testing and to establish a sample bank. On the part of Santé publique France, it is led by the DSET and involves various directorates: the Directorate of Noncommunicable Diseases (DMNTT), the Directorate of Data Analysis and Processing (DATA), the Directorate of Health Promotion (DPPS), and the Directorate of Procurement and Finance (DAF).

Responsibilities

Reporting to the head of the Exposure Surveillance Unit and working closely with the Albane survey project manager
, the research officer will:

  • Provide support to the project manager in the overall coordination of the survey and
    the leadership of the cross-departmental project team, particularly by updating the survey management tools
    (GANTT chart, RACI matrix, indicator table, etc.);
  • support the cross-departmental project team in implementing the study and monitoring
    service providers, particularly the clinical laboratories, the transportation
    provider, and the monitoring provider;
  • prepares and organizes materials for the internal and external meetings necessary
    for the implementation of the Albane survey;
  • participates in discussions aimed at preparing Cycle 2 of the survey;
  • participates in the dissemination of the survey results;
  • prepares and delivers, as needed, oral presentations in French.
