Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of April 14, 2023.

Key Points

  • In Guadeloupe, the virus continues to circulate in the municipality of Saint-François. However, a few sporadic cases have been reported in other municipalities. This finding confirms that the virus continues to circulate throughout the archipelago.

  • In Martinique, the outbreak that has been active for two months in the municipality of Sainte-Anne confirms the persistence of viral circulation. The southern part of the island is primarily affected, with sporadic cases also reported in the municipalities of Les Trois-Îlets, Vauclin, and Le Marin.

  • The DENV-2 serotype has been identified in both territories.

  • In Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, the situation remains calm. Various factors (traveler traffic, major events) could quickly lead to a deterioration of the epidemiological situation.

  • According to the PSAGE* dengue protocol, the epidemiological situation corresponds to Phase 2, Level 1: Isolated outbreaks or outbreaks with no epidemiological link(s) in Guadeloupe and Martinique, and to Phase 1: Sporadic cases in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy
