Key Points
In Week 02 (January 10–16, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children (+9%, or +870 visits) and decreased among adults (-10%, or -5,975 visits).
Cases involving suspected COVID-19 remained stable for the first time after several weeks of increases. In total, 8,278 cases (vs. 8,176 cases in Week 01) were recorded (a 1% increase vs. 38% in Week 01 and 46% in Week 52). These cases are up among children (+26%, or +423 cases) and down slightly among adults (-5%, or -326 cases). However, suspected COVID-19 remains the second most common condition among adults aged 15–74 and the third most common among those aged 2–14. At the regional level, increases are observed in several metropolitan regions (Centre-Val de Loire (+22%, or +39 cases), PACA (+22%, or +172 cases), Occitanie (+21%, or +90 cases), Hauts-de-France (+18%, or +186 cases), Pays de la Loire (+14%, or +72 procedures)) as well as in Martinique (+24%, or +56 procedures). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 298,154 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators, during the second week following the start of the school year, the few increases observed involved children with influenza/influenza-like illness (+29% or +162 cases), ENT conditions (+14% or +1,100 cases), asthma (+37% or +72 cases), and viral syndrome (+15% or +78 cases). There was also an increase in visits for isolated fever (+17%, or +199 visits) across all age groups. Visits for influenza/flu-like illness remained stable across all age groups (2,763 visits vs. 2,752 in S01).
