Key Points
In Week 49 (December 4–10, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among adults aged 15–74 (+7%, or +3,485 visits) and remained stable among children and those aged 75 and older.
Regarding seasonal respiratory indicators, the increase in cases continues across all age groups, more pronounced among adults as in Week 48, at levels comparable to previous years:
for influenza/flu-like illness across all age groups (+25% across all ages, or +1,397 cases);
for suspected COVID-19 among adults and those aged 2–14 (up 21% and 7%, respectively, or 747 and 24 cases);
for upper respiratory tract conditions (+10%, or +1,489 cases) among adults and for acute bronchitis (+6%, or +30 cases) among those aged 75 and older only.
Among children under 2 years of age, procedures for bronchiolitis are down (-16%); this decline was observed in the first week for children under 2 and in the second week for children under 1 year of age (-6% in week 48).
At levels far higher than in previous years, procedures for pneumonia continue to rise among adults (+18%, or +209 procedures) but remain stable among children.
Among other indicators, there is an increase in cases of gastroenteritis among adults and those aged 2–14 (+11%) and vomiting among children and those aged 15–74 (+7%), as well as conjunctivitis among those aged 2–14 and 15–74 (respectively +17% and +7%). There was also an increase in procedures for isolated fever among children (+17%) and for viral syndrome among adults (+13% among those aged 15–74).
